A large, distributed energy-sector company struggled to give employees quick, reliable access to internal knowledge scattered across multiple systems: SharePoint repositories, internal CMS platforms, and structured tools like SAP, making information hard and time-consuming to find. Generative AI showed potential but carried known limitations: risk of inaccurate content (hallucinations), lack of contextual awareness, and insufficient permission controls, making it hard to integrate GenAI into business processes safely and effectively.
Amaris partnered with the client to design a tailored, secure internal chatbot built on OpenAI's technology combined with Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), accessible directly through Microsoft Teams so employees could ask natural-language questions and get trustworthy answers from internal sources. Key elements: smart content connection to SharePoint and CMS platforms (auto-pulling the latest info); built-in access control where every piece of content is tagged with user permissions so the chatbot only shows what a user is allowed to see; advanced search that finds the most relevant documents and applies access filters in real time; and extra features letting employees upload documents, generate images, and pull live data from SAP. The initiative continues by expanding beyond Teams, customizing versions for specific departments, and iterating on feedback.
