The client, a leader in water treatment (drinking water, wastewater, reverse-osmosis desalination, tertiary treatment for reuse), wanted to make its procurement processes more efficient but was uncertain how to implement AI effectively. The goal was to use procurement data to provide actionable recommendations on materials and suppliers through an intuitive interface: collecting and analyzing large volumes of data, identifying patterns, integrating sources, and applying advanced analytics. The client lacked a clear strategy to turn data into recommendations and needed expert help to decide which AI solutions best suited its needs.
Amaris defined the project scope through collaborative meetings with the client's business and technology teams, identifying several potential AI use cases, then tested and refined them to align with the client's needs and proposed a proof-of-concept to evaluate feasibility before rollout. Building on product demonstrations and feedback with procurement teams, they developed a chatbot powered by ChatGPT 3.5 that provides tailored recommendations for products and materials based on specific user queries. The chatbot was iteratively fine-tuned via demos and detailed feedback, and prompt engineering ensured it could handle complex queries and return relevant, accurate recommendations. The engagement emphasized flexibility, regular feedback, and close collaboration.
